Canadian Quartet The Beaches Ignites Outernet with Punk Energy and Killer Melodies
Now in their tenth year, Canadian quartet The Beaches gave a crowded Outernet audience a real treat on Thursday.
Formed in their early teens (under the moniker go Done With Dolls) by vocalist and bassist Jordan Miller and her sister Kylie on guitar, the line up also consists of Eliza Enman-McDaniel on drums and keyboardist / guitarist Leandra Earl.
The band looked fantastic, and exuded punk energy, their tunes mixing pop sensibility with attitude, great musicianship and killer melodies.
“Well this is a rock tour” – Jordan Miller exclaimed with the crowd roaring for them to start playing.
Opener ‘Kismet ’from this years ‘Blame My Ex ’album got us off to a strong start and had the crowd singing along. We got a handful more from ‘Blame My Ex’, including the upbeat ‘Me and Me’, ‘Cigarette ’- which featured a stunning baseline – ‘Shower Beer’, and singles ‘What Doesn’t Kill You Makes You Paranoid’, ‘Blame Brett ’and ‘Everything is Boring’.
These new tunes fitted into the set beautifully alongside tracks such as ’T-shirt ’from 2017s ‘Late Show ’and showcased the songwriting progression and maturity of the band.
Closing song ‘Money ’was met with huge applause once the opening guitar riff started and left the London audience happy and energised.
The Beaches are riding high at the moment, having performed at this years Lollapalooza in Chicago and are about to embark on a 4-moth tour of the USA.
We’re looking forward to them returning to the UK!
