Baz Mills and the Blow-Up Dinghy: A Night of Laughter and Rock ‘n’ Roll Madness With Massive Wagons Live at The Rescue Rooms.
So, here I am again, attempting to count how many times I’ve seen Massive Wagons. Spoiler alert: I’ve lost count. It’s like trying to count the number of hairs on Baz’s magnificent mustache—impossible and not recommended. But hey, when the opportunity to witness this band’s shenanigans arises, you don’t pass it up.
The venue tonight, the Rescue Rooms in Nottingham, is packed tighter than a can of sardines and its hot.
As the lights dimmed, a heartbeat echoed through the venue, growing louder and faster.
Out come the boys kicking off with ‘Back to the Stack,’ and it’s like the starting gun for a marathon of musical mayhem. Baz is bouncing around like he’s on a pogo stick with a Red Bull IV drip. I’m not saying he’s energetic, but if you could harness his enthusiasm, I could sell my solar panels. They crack it up with ‘Pressure’, “Sad Sad Song” and ‘Freak City.’ It’s like they’re on a mission to make sure everyone leaves with a sore neck from excessive headbanging.
The audience is the real hero here, proving that Massive Wagons has cracked the code for a successful song: if you can sing along and want to sing along, it’s a winner. It’s a simple formula, like making a sandwich, but with more headbanging.
Baz Mills, the maestro of merriment, is a blur of stage presence. His onstage antics include more jumps than an Olympic gymnast, It’s like watching a rock ‘n’ roll tornado in tight pants.
The band’s commitment to fun is commendable. They’re like the musical version of a carnival, minus the creepy clowns. Instead, you get a musical rollercoaster of joy.
Towards the end Baz materialized out of thin air, riding a blow-up dinghy like a conquering hero sailing through a sea of fans. It was a moment of sheer madness that could only happen at a Massive Wagons gig. “I’m shit at fishing!” he says.
In the midst of now anthem that is “Prime Generation,” Massive Wagons decided to take a detour. Picture this: the blistering guitars, the pounding drums, and then, out of nowhere, the unmistakable strains of “Mysterious Girl” by Peter Andre and the soulful vibes of “No Woman No Cry” by Bob Marley. Hundreds of die-hard rock fans singing along to a Peter Andre song.
At the end of the set Baz had the entire audience enthusiastically singing along to the outro song, “Take Me Home, Country Roads” a perfect end to a perfect gig.
In these trying times, Massive Wagons should come with a warning: may cause excessive smiling, sore necks, and an inexplicable urge to grow a mustache. Here’s to hoping they continue their ascent to world domination, one gig at a time.

We saw massive wagons in Bournemouth, it was absolutely brilliant and the definite highlight of my year. Baz didn’t have the dinghy that night, he just crowd surfed. It was the most hilarious thing I have seen in ages..I honestly thought they were going to drop him at one point! Massive wagons are the best thing around at the moment. If you want a good night out with loads of fun at a reasonable price then they are your band. Very loud, very energetic but you will be smiling and singing their songs for days after!
