Gig reviewsThe Slates

The Slates Rock Leeds and Win Hearts as Embrace Support Act on Hometown Gig

The Slates are Joe, Jude, Louis and Zak, an indie-rock band from Mirfield. With their new single “What Have You Done” out now they’ve been hitting the road playing gigs at various venues in the North, including 3 dates supporting 90s chart toppers Embrace – playing Liverpool, a hometown gig in Leeds and the upcoming sold out gig in Manchester.

Having first bumped into them backstage at Liverpool Camp & Furnace where they came across as lovely fun-loving guys, it’s at the Leeds O2 where I catch them live. They’re first support for the Embrace gig and being the hometown gig they’re well fired up for it! They certainly know how to play to the crowd, which contains local friends but also a good number of Embrace fans who got into the venue early; I’m certain they would have gained some new fans tonight!! They cite their influencers as local rock band Arctic Monkeys, Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Smiths and The Stone Roses but with their own unique added twist!

Listen to their new song here – https://songwhip.com/theslates/what-have-you-done and be sure to catch them at their headline gig at the Key Club in Leeds on 1st December!!
