Creeper – An amazing show, concert photographers dream and fans that dress to kill! Rock City gig review.
Last night, Rock City once again surpassed all expectations with a sold-out venue where people gathered to see the internationally acclaimed band, Creeper.
This English goth punk band draws inspiration from post-punk, emo, and glam rock. Formed by lead vocalist Will Gould in 2014, the band hails from Southampton, England. After signing with Roadrunner Records, Creeper released their second EP, ‘The Callous Heart,’ in September 2015. This band certainly put on a show like no other I’ve seen to date, and what a show it is. The theatrics alone are well worth seeing, with blood in abundance and a story that draws the audience in from the start. The band members all play their part, and the performance was simply mesmerizing. The fans themselves get into the whole performance with their makeup and goth clothing; they were certainly dressed to kill! As a concert photographer, I couldn’t ask for more. A steady stream of crowd surfers was steadily ferried from the back of the auditorium to the stage, keeping the ever-watchful security staff on their toes. What’s nice about Rock City is the camaraderie and friendliness of everybody, staff, and fans.
The music throughout the performance was superb, ranging from heavy rock to softer ballads, and of course, all about the dark side with the vampire theme! The band’s new album, ‘Sanguivore,’ is just brilliant, and I have the final version, which has been played constantly over the past few days. Opening with ‘Further Than Forever,’ which they played early on in the set, the song sets the scene for the rest of the album—a song that I’m sure will be a big hit. All of the songs are great, with ‘Teenage Sacrifice’ being another one that was popular. ‘Sanguivore’ is the biggest album Creeper has released, and its opening track is a nine-minute rock opera in the making. Kerrang magazine hits the nail on the head when their review describes it as ‘Further Than Forever is absolutely glorious, tempering twinkling keys, artful guitar soloing, and angelic harmonies.'”
