Looking for an exhilarating alternative to the UK rock festivals? Look no further than Hellfest, the crown jewel of European Rock festivals, promising an unforgettable experience for all music enthusiasts. This year, we sought something beyond the typical UK festivals and embarked on a journey to Hellfest, and it did not disappoint. Buckle up as we share our fantastic Hellfest experience. You can read our Hellfest review here.
Spanning 4 days as standard Hellfest 2023 had an amazing line up, with bands such as Iron Maiden, KISS, Motley Crue, Hollywood vampires, Def Leopard, Tenacious D, SlipKot and so much more.
Securing a ticket for Hellfest can be challenging, similar to Glastonbury, as they sell out within minutes. But fear not, they release tickets in waves, giving you more opportunities to grab your pass. With tickets in hand, we eagerly prepared for the adventure ahead.
Hellfest resides in the quaint village of Clisson, where finding accommodation can be daunting unless you’re willing to camp. Thus, many festival-goers choose to stay in the vibrant nearby city of Nantes. We opted to fly, taking a short and affordable Ryanair flight from either Manchester or Stansted, costing only £60 for a round trip. Upon landing, in Nantes we are immediately greeted by Hellfest. Getting to the city from the airport is easy, you can get a bus for 10 Euros or an Uber for about 20 euros for all of you.

To ensure a pleasant stay, we found an incredible Airbnb in Nantes, conveniently close to the train station, providing easy access to Hellfest. The accommodation, which cost £532 for 5 nights, was shared among the three of us, making it a budget-friendly option at just £177 per person. Nantes, as a city, is a treasure trove of cultural delights, so we recommend spending some time exploring its enchanting attractions.

Now that you’ve reached Nantes, it’s time to make your way to Hellfest. The best way to do so is by taking a 30-minute train ride to Clisson. During the festival, the train tickets are discounted to a mere 5 Euros for a round trip, and the trains run every half an hour, ensuring hassle-free transportation.
Upon arriving in Clisson, you’ll face two options to reach Hellfest. You can opt for a convenient shuttle bus for just 5 Euros each way, or for the more adventurous souls, a picturesque 25-minute walk through the charming streets of Clisson is highly recommended. We chose to walk, and it was a decision we never regretted. The scenic stroll through the picturesque village added a magical touch to our overall experience.

In conclusion, getting to Hellfest from the UK is easier than you might think, and it won’t break the bank either. With proper planning and the right choices, you can enjoy an affordable and seamless journey to this extraordinary European rock festival. So, mark your calendar and prepare to immerse yourself in the electrifying energy of Hellfest for a rock adventure like no other.
