Hollywood Vampires Rock Hellfest 2023 – Gig Review

Hollywood Vampires kicked off day one of Hellfests evening slots with a fantastic performance full of classic rock favourites, captivating an enormous crowd with their charisma and impeccable stage presence. It was a wonderful day with the radiant sun shining down on the arena although as Alice Cooper said ’You don’t often see vampires come out in the sunlight’ but even with the risk of being burnt by the sun didn’t stop them putting on a show that the crowd went wild for. If you don’t know who the Hollywood Vampires are, they are an American rock supergroup formed in 2012 of Alice Cooper, Johnny Depp, and Joe Perry to honour the Rockstar’s who died from excess in the 70s, showing a true dedication to their craft, bringing a new lease to life to the music we love.

The Vampires showed their commitment to the show after having to borrow all their equipment from KISS as all their equipment, wardrobe and stage setting got stuck at the border in Serbia and could not make it to France in time for the festival. However, they did not let this stop them from being able to put on an epic show and leaving the fans wanting more. I think this shows how truly professional the whole team behind the Hollywood Vampires are, they will not allow fans to be disappointed and as they say, ‘The show must go on’.
The set list for this show was wonderfully curated including their own songs plus plenty of covers from bands like Killing Joke and The Who. Johhny Depp took over the lead microphone for a few songs even paying an emotional tribute to his close friend Jeff Beck, by playing a cover of the David Bowie song ‘Heroes’.

They also made sure to play fan favourites such as Walk This Way’, People Who Died , The Train Kept A-Rollin’ and finally ending the set with ‘School’s Out’ getting the crowd screaming the lyrics out to them one last time.
