Kira Mac Interview – Roctavia chats to Kira.
Recently I’ve had the pleasure of returning with one of my favorite musical chats to date. In this instalment of Rock News, I had the opportunity to pick the creative mind of lead singer “Kira Mac” of (you guessed it) Kira Mac. In our interview, Kira shares the real story behind the band’s name and creation with nods to Fleetwood Mac. This band of self proclaimed misfits hails from a hodgepodge of UK towns, “from Stoke to Hull,” and is composed of Joe Worrall and Alex Novakovic (Guitar), Bret Barnes (Bass), and Cal Casey (Drums).
Music straight to your ears, Kira Mac’s sound profile is a mashup of big vocals, hearty hooks, & bluesy vibes that have been influenced by Motown but still drip heavy with Rock ‘N’ Roll. It’s not often that a band debuts with radio play, but they’ve done just that with their single ‘One Way Ticket,’ which ultimately skyrocketed onto Planet Rock’s A-playlist.
Currently, Kira shared that they’ve been working hard in the studio—in our interview she lets us in on her writing process. The band has explored improvisational jam sessions and creative collaboration that has resulted in quite a few successes, much like their newest single ‘Dead Man Walking.’ There is also an upcoming album in the works that is set to release this fall.
If you’re lucky enough to be in the UK right now, you will have the opportunity to catch Kira Mac on their debut tour as well as the festival circuit beginning in July. The band is set to play Steelhouse 2022 and Rock n’ Blues Festival 2022. As always, don’t forget to stream, like and follow. Hungry for more Kira Mac? Don’t forget to check out the links below.
