Kelsy Karter Gig review Gullivers Manchester – PINK, KINK & PUNK TOUR.
Tonight I’m at Gullivers in Manchester to catch Kelsy Karter on her Pink, Kink & Punk tour. It’s the 8th night of Kelsy’s first UK headline tour and it’s been really well received. The attention she is attracting on social media is huge. I’ve been lucky enough to see Kelsy live before, once supporting The Struts fully electric and several times acoustic. So I’m really looking forward to tonight.
The Hot Trash, Kelsy’s band is made up of Seb Boyse on drums, who also drums with Myok. Matt Peach on guitar and backing vocals, who also plays in his own band called Matt Peach, and Tommy Gent on bass who has been delighting crowds recently with his Love Explosion.
The crowd are warmed up and very excited to welcome Kelsy to the stage, tonight she is wearing black PVC trousers, red crop top and barefoot, every inch the rock star. The layout of the venue means the band have to walk through the crowd to get to the stage. It’s a small stage, but it just seems to add to the electricity seeing them all interact with each other, it’s also close enough to the audience that Kelsy takes a phone from a fan to start filming from the stage. Again a pair of pink knickers are given to the best dressed fan and tonight it deservedly goes to Gen from Gen and The Degenerates, who is looking fabulous tonight.
Kelsy delights the crowd with all her hits and her voice sounds perfect. She chats to the audience and you can’t help but love her and she has us all in the palm of her hand. During Catch Me If You Can, Kelsy stage dives into the audience and is held aloft then lifted back to the stage. A quick costume change and she is back on the stage in a black skirt & top, but still shoeless. Then it’s time for a cracking cover of Blondies Call Me, which is outstanding. Ending the evening perfectly with Liquor Store on Mars.
