Robert Jon & The Wreck gig review Rescue Rooms Nottingham, with support from Laura Evans.
Tonight we are back at Nottingham’s Rescue rooms, we are here to check out Robert Jon & The Wreck with support from Laura Evans.
First up hailing from South Wales we have the blues, and country rock sounds of up-and-coming artist Laura Evans. The first thing I have to mention is Laura has an amazing voice, which reminded me of another Welsh singer, Duffy. She soon got the crowd singing along, making sure everyone was warmed up for Robert Jon & The Wreck.
Laura releases her debut album “State Of Mind” on the 1 July, you can see her perform the title track at Rescue rooms here. The band consist of Laura on vocals and Joe Coombs on Electric and Acoustic Guitars. Definitely try and catch Laura live if you get the opportunity.

We now have a taste of Southern rock from Robert Jon & The Wreck, back after last September’s sold-out UK tour, tonight we have ex King King keyboard player Bob Fridzema standing in for Steve Maggiora who is on tour playing keys for Toto in the USA. Watching a band of this caliber is amazing, they just work so well together. Stunning harmonies from Robert, Henry, and Andrew, the same can be said with Roberts and Henry’s guitars, just working in perfect harmony.
At one point Robert said, “if you didn’t already know we are from California we are from FUCKING CALIFORNIA”. You know it’s a great gig when you see the band is enjoying it as much as the audience. About halfway through Andrew treated us to a drum solo, drum solos can be a Marmite thing, you either love them or hate them, personally, I love them and on this occasion so did the audience.
Henry supplied some soulful face-melting guitar solos to rival the best, when the time came the rest of the band took a step back and gave him the stage. Warren on Bass kept his shades on throughout looking cool and pulling great moves. The encore was simply stunning, each member took turns to showcase their talents, and then they all came together.
This is a truly great live band, this is only the third date of the tour so I can highly recommend you catch them while you can. You can see a full list of dates below.
