Tonight I had the absolute pleasure of sitting down with a wonderful Southampton, UK band called The Outlaw Orchestra. This charming 3 piece was tons of fun to chat to…even if we were missing the backbone of it all, the drummer. Haha, you’ll understand my mischievousness there once you get into the video in the link below. The Outlaw Orchestra is comprised of David Roux (Guitar & Lead Vocals), Pete Briley (Banjo, Lapsteel, Pedalsteel Bass, Guitar,…all the instruments (lol), & Ryan Smith keeping time with a steady hard rock foundation on drums.
Right away Dave took the lead in the interview & offered up plenty of wonderful back ground on the band, anecdotes, & even snuck in an interview question for yours truly! Initially we touched on the their encounter with The Darkness & our mutual influences of The Rolling Stones & The Beatles on our collective journeys. Ultimately we then got into how bluegrass, jazz, blues, and country come in to play, which most definitely makes sense for The Outlaws Orchestra’s sound. I thoroughly enjoyed the fact that Dave mentioned that when they play for Motörhead-centric crowds, it’s easy to initially write this band off during their setup, but once they get going, they really have everyone in attendance cruising right along in their rock journey collectively.
This interview didn’t feel like an interview at all & was a blast all the way down to the final off-the-cuff bonus question that I had for the band. It was a little too risqué to answer on camera…but let’s just say the answer was truly Rock ‘N’ Roll & I absolutely loved it. Had me in stitches! I feel bad for not being able to spill it, but if you want to check out more from The Outlaw Orchestra, you can get your fix at all the links provided below.
