Tonight I had the pleasure of sitting down to chat with Jamppa of Steve ‘N’ Seagulls. Jamppa was warm & kind as we chatted about the influences of jazz and classic rock on his Nu Bluegrass band. That’s right, you heard me correctly. Steve ‘N’ Seagulls is a Finnish five-piece that touts amped up bluegrass cover versions of well know metal classics. When my partner in the UK, Andy, had mentioned that he saw a Nu Bluegrass band live and was capturing shots & video, I was beyond curious & was v interested in taking the interview.
After ironing out a scheduling conflict, Jamppa enlightened us on all things Steve ‘N’ Seagulls. Through his lovely Finnish accent, Jamppa and I laughed & waxed poetic about the band’s tour life, favorite venues & crowds, musical influences, band naming influences of significant others, and a certain Finnish children’s dinosaur metal band may have once again found its way into the conversation.
Anyway, I had a pretty great time speaking with Jamppa, the base player of a band who’s gig wrap shots always look like they left it all on the stage…each & every time. Honor us with your presence as we welcome you into our little conversation in the interview below. Also if you’re hungry for more, you can check out everything Steve ‘N’ Seagulls at the links below.
