An Interview with Mason Hill.

Howdy All! Today I got the chance to chat with the homegrown Scottish group Mason Hill. The Glasgow based group formed through school ties in 2013, roughly, forged by members Scott Taylor (Lead Vocals) & James Bird ( Lead Guitar). The group is rounded out by the talents of Marc Montgomery (Guitar), Matthew Ward ( Bass) and Craig McFetridge (Drums).

This was one of the interviews that definitely made me realize that I’m very lucky in getting to do what I do. Scott, James, and I got to chatting on about the foundations of their band and how James has crossed paths with his musical heroes. Again, it felt like chatting with a few friends! I also couldn’t pass on the opportunity to call Scott out on his exceedingly impressive musical talents, he was such a majorly good sport about it lol!

Mason Hill is the type of band that can chart in the UK, in a pandemic, through self inspired recording & production methods…as a matter of fact, that’s exactly what they’ve done with their new album “Against the Wall.” I, myself, even mentioned to my Rock News UK business partner that I’m completely surprised at how this group isn’t more well known! He then informed me  that they are newer on the official scene. Despite the circumstances of it all, I can see this band becoming a musical powerhouse once they can get their album (& possible upcoming singles) out on tour in front of a proper live audience.

Fortunately, Mason Hill is planning to do just that with a club tour that is slated for a September 2021 timetable. Fingers crossed that all goes well and we can dance & sing to these tunes live together later this fall! You can check out my interview, as well as everything else Mason Hill, in the links below.
